Who are Secular Franciscans?

Have you felt a call for a deeper meaning in your life? Do you desire a closer relationship with Christ? Do you feel a need to simplify your life? We invite you to come and join us to share/learn/explore the Secular Franciscan Order (OFS). We are Catholic men and women who seek to pattern our lives after Christ, striving to live the gospel way of life in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi. As individuals and as Christians, we believe we have been called to this vocation and strive together to a life of sacrifice and communion with all people. This is our way of life. We are not a club or society. We are united in an international Order founded by St. Francis over 800 years ago. We pray alone and together. We learn about Christ, St. Francis, St. Clare, our Faith and ourselves. We share our journeys, our joys, our experiences. We live with the Gospels as our guide – Living Gospel to Life and Life to Gospel. What do we do?

Individual Secular Franciscans gather in local fraternities to pray, study, witness, engage in apostolic work, and share community together. The Fraternity is under the guidance of the Assumption BVM Province Franciscans based at Saint Mary of the Angels Parish in Green Bay. The local fraternities are organized into Regions. The Fraternity is part of the La Verna Region of the Secular Franciscan Order. La Verna Region, which covers all of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, is one of thirty-one regions within the United States, and many more throughout the world.

Next schedule meeting is Saturday November 16 from 8:30 to 10:30.
