Dear Parishioners
We have enrolled in a new system for the Parish called Flocknotes. This system allows us to email and/or text you with messages throughout the year as to Parish news and events. Email messages are sent when we have a more information to share. Texts are used for reminders and shorter messages.
Ideally we would eventually want all parishioners to be connected by Flocknotes by both email and/or text. Flocknotes is a secure and private system through the Parish. Your information is never given out to anyone else. Further, it is of no cost to you. We will continue to utilize the bulletin and Angelus for communications, but these often involve delays of up to on month due to the mail, printing, etc. So Flocknotes will definitely be more efficient and timely for Parish news.

THE LITURGICAL YEAR
While in the secular world we celebrate a new calendar year on January 1, in the Church we celebrate the New Year a month ahead of time at the beginning of the season of Advent. This past year, 2022, Advent began on November 27th, so this year our Church New Year began on November 27, 2022. Our Church year is known as the Church Liturgical Year. Within the Church Liturgical Year, the Church unfolds the whole mystery of Christ, from Incarnation and birth of Christ until his ascension, the day of Pentecost, and the expectation of the blessed hope of the Lord’s return on the Solemnity of Christ the King. (see Constitution of Sacred Liturgy, CSL, para 102). Recalling these mysteries of redemption, in the annual cycle of the Church Liturgical Year, the Church opens to the faithful the riches of the Lord’s powers and merits. The Liturgical Year breaks down into five separate seasons: 1. Advent season, which celebrates the coming of our Lord for four weeks prior to Christmas Day. 2. Christmas Season, which runs from Christmas Day until the second week of January, the Baptism of our Lord. 3. Lent Season, which is 40 days beginning on Ash Wednesday and is a time for spiritual renewal and penance. 4. Easter Season, which is the seven weeks (50 days) beginning Easter Sunday until Pentecost. 5. Ordinary time, the Season of Hope, which runs 34 weeks outside of the other four seasons. Finally, there is really a Sixth Season called the Sacred Triduum which is Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday Easter Vigil. These Triduum days, three days, are considered the most sacred three days of our Church Liturgical Year. To participate fully in the Church Liturgical Year, a Catholic will want to attend Holy Mass each and every Sunday as well as the Sacred Triduum days and all Holy Days of Obligation. It is in this way that we, as Catholics, will receive the foundation and core of the entire liturgical year and the experience of the mysteries of Jesus Christ within our lives
